Photos Used-
These are the photos that were used to create the collage. The photo of the person is of myself. This photo was actually taken two years ago during my freshman year of high school. Though my appearance has not changed much since that picture was taken. The background of the collage is a photo of my Global History class. This background was chosen to contrast with my choices later. The last photo is of my art class. Much of the photo was not used. Instead I used the wall decoration of a deer. Specifically, its antlers.
Experimentation
(Photo I was unable to include due to technical difficulties)
|
Essentially, the entire project was just experimentation. This was done to practice with photopea before using it to create actual future projects. Despite my difficulties, I feel that I have experimented enough so that I can use photopea in the future. The only problem being the chromebook that I am at the time of writing currently limited to.
The puppet warp was very confusing and difficult to use. I was required to select spots that I wanted to warp so that the tool would only focus on those specific spots. However, despite selecting these specific spots, the rest of the image began to move. This made it difficult to achieve the look that I wanted because everytime that I changed the shape of the ears, the head would dramatically rotate. So, I had to go through trial and error to carefully achieve the look that I wanted. The Magic Wand was a bit difficult to work out. It often selected areas from the background despite selecting something different. This made it difficult to actually cut out what I wanted. So I’d often spend a lot of time going through trial and error. I would select an area that I wanted to include only for the tool to think that I wanted. The tediousness of this was slightly reduced through the reduction tool that allowed me to erase parts that I didn’t want to include. However, this tool had the same problems as the Magic Wand. The Magic Wand took the longest to use compared to the other tools. It felt very unrefined and it really selected whatever it wanted. Unlike the Magic Wand, color alteration was very easy. There were several settings that I could select from and I chose hue/saturation. Three sliders were presented and they were very easy to modify. It was easy and quick to use. |
Reflection
Photopea was a bit confusing to use at first. However, I quickly learned how to use several of its tools. However, there was still difficulty when it came to this project. Some tools just felt a bit clunky and unrefined. This made working on the collage very slow. Photopea also just isn’t very compatible with the chromebook that I use. This isn’t a criticism of Photopea itself, just a fact that the materials that I work with are not compatible. Overall, Photopea will be useful for my future projects if they ever require me to edit photos.
